About the game The project, Caveman vs Animals, is a tile-based role-playing game set in the world of stone age era.
This project was made from scratch using the programming language Java. Each gameplay element was developed piece by piece with a lot of testing to ensure smooth playability. The game’s design was also planned out before implementing game features but overtime the design choices were altered here and there to suit the overall theme of the game.
The game consists of player taking control of a caveman out hunting for food. The goal of the game is to kill the animal roaming outside the cave and finally make it back to the cave without getting killed. There are several kinds of animals roaming around in the wild where some animals are dangerous and will try to attack you if you go near them and some will not harm you at all. There are two ways in which the game can end: if player’s health reaches 0 in which case you lose or if the player reaches the cave after defeating the powerful animal roaming outside it in which case you win. The gameplay consists of using weapons to kill animals, consuming meat to restore health and crafting weapons/ammo to help progress players throughout the game and eventually reach their goal.
